Article, Mac OS X, Novice, Time Machine | March 25th, 2008
Lost that crucial file? Already have your Mac setup to use Time Machine? Your in luck, you can get that file back in a few simple clicks!
- Click on the Time Machine icon on the dock. You’ll be launched into a new space like interface.

- The interface is very simple and acts almost exactly like your Finder. You can navigate through your files and even some applications (such as Mail) to find the files you need to restore.

- You can navigate through your hourly backups using the arrows to the bottom right of the Finder window.

- Time Machine also provides you with a time line on the right side of the interface. Hover the mouse over this time line and click on a date to jump to that backup period.

- To restore a file, navigate using the navigation tools provided. You can also use the search box provided in the Finder window, just as you would in the regular Mac interface. Once you find your file or files, click on it.

- Finally, hit the Restore button on the bottom right corner of the screen. This will restore your file(s) to your current date and you can use it as normal.
