Show the Full Directory Path in Finder’s Window

Most of us know about Finder’s “Show Path Bar” option under the View menu. It’s a great little feature, but sometimes it’s nice to know the exact full path, especially if you use Terminal a lot. Here’s a quick tutorial to show you how to show the full path in Finder’s window.

  1. Open up Terminal and type in defaults write com.apple.finder _FXShowPosixPathInTitle -bool YES and hit enter. Then type in killall Finder and hit enter. Open terminal and enter the commands
  2. Open up a new Finder window and you should see the full path of your directory displayed at the top of the window. See the full path of your directory in Finder's window

There you go, quick and easy. To turn this feature off, follow the same steps but type in NO instead.
