Compress a Group of Files into One File
Article, Finder, Mac OS X, Novice | April 10th, 2008
Sometimes you need to compress a bunch of files into just one file. This can be extremely handy for sending multiple files via email or instant messenger. This quick tutorial will tell you exactly how to do so!
- Select your files. You can do this by clicking, holding the mouse button, and dragging the pointer over your files.

- Select File from the Menubar on the top left corner of your screen. Left click on Compress Items.

- You can achieve the same result as above by right clicking on one of your selected files and selecting Compress Items from the menu that appears.

- After your files are compressed you will see a file called Archive.zip. Click once on this file and hit “return” on your keyboard to rename the file to your liking.

There you have it, you now have a compressed file that you can easily send or store. To uncompress this file just double left click on it and it will extract into a folder of the same name.
